There were several significant results in the Women’s Premier League this weekend, with UTS extending their lead at the top to four points after Northbridge were held to a draw. Hornsby Heights climbed into third on the back of their impressive recent form, while Epping strengthened their hold on top spot in the bottom half of the table with a win, and Beecroft edged past Putney.

Flying Bats FC 1 – 3 UTS FC
UTS faced a tough challenge on the road against the Flying Bats at Morrison Bay, with the hosts sitting inside the top four and looking to upset the league leaders. A victory for UTS would be crucial in maintaining their position at the summit of the table.
The contest lived up to expectations, with both sides producing an entertaining and hard-fought battle. However, UTS once again showed the quality that has taken them to the top of the competition, with goals from Lara Halmarick, Stefanie Aisbett, and Frances Maria Klein securing a deserved 3-1 victory. It was a well-rounded team performance that they will look to replicate in the final weeks of the season.
The result extends UTS’ lead at the top of the ladder to four points, giving them some valuable breathing room after Northbridge were held to a draw.
West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC 0 – 0 Northbridge FC
Northbridge entered the clash knowing nothing less than three points would do if they were to keep pace with league leaders UTS. While West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook have produced mixed results in recent weeks, they have consistently shown they can trouble any side in the competition.
It was a tightly contested opening half at Campbell Park, with Northbridge balancing their attacking intent against the threat of being caught on the counter. Both defences stood firm throughout the first 45 minutes, sending the sides into the break locked at 0-0.
Northbridge lifted the intensity after halftime, committing more players forward as they searched for the breakthrough that would keep their title hopes alive. However, WPHC defended resolutely, frustrating the visitors and preventing either side from finding the decisive goal.
The goalless draw ends Northbridge’s remarkable 12-match winning streak, highlighting just how competitive this season’s league has become. They now sit four points behind UTS at the top of the table, while WPHC will take confidence from a hard-earned point as they continue their push for a place in the top four.
North Sydney United 0 – 1 Hornsby Heights FC
Hornsby Heights arrived at Cammeray Oval in red-hot form, chasing a fourth consecutive victory and the chance to continue their climb up the ladder. North Sydney United, meanwhile, were looking to halt a recent dip in form and reignite their finals push.
The opening half was a tightly contested affair, with both sides creating chances but unable to find the breakthrough early. As the half progressed, Heights began to take control of the contest, and it was their reliable goalscorer, Mia Hing, who once again delivered the decisive moment to give the visitors a 1-0 lead before the break.
North Sydney United responded strongly after halftime, pushing forward in search of an equaliser, but Hornsby Heights remained composed at the back and defended their advantage superbly. Despite sustained pressure from the home side, Heights held firm to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
The result lifts Hornsby Heights three places higher into third on the ladder, setting up a blockbuster clash with the league leaders next week. North Sydney United will be encouraged by their improved second-half performance as they look to finish the season strongly in the remaining rounds.
Congratulations to Mia Hing, whose decisive match-winner for the in-form Hornsby Heights makes her the Player of the Round.

Rest of the Round
Epping claimed a 2-0 home victory over Macquarie Dragons to maintain their place at the top of the lower half of the table. Beecroft FC also secured all three points, narrowly beating Putney 2-1, a result that will inspire Putney in the remaining weeks of the season. With just one point separating Epping and Beecroft, the race at the top remains incredibly close.
