Game Leader Information

The NSFRA provides Game Leaders for Junior Development League (JDL) matches which includes the top two divisions of Mixed U8-U11 competitions. The NSFRA are committed to mentoring and supporting Game Leaders and endeavour to provide Game Leaders with a pathway to becoming qualified Referees.

What Ages are Recommended for Game Leaders?

We recommend players age between 12-16 consider becoming Game Leaders.

Becoming a Game Leader

All Game Leaders are required to attend a 1-hour Game Leader Workshop.

If you are not a registered NSFRA Referee, you will also need to pick up your gear from the NSFA office including:

  1. Game Leader shirt
  2. Whistle
  3. Notebook to record scores

There is a small cost to becoming a Game Leader – all gear and equipment is provided. Game Leaders must complete the workshop and register with the NSFRA in PlayFootball as a Game Leader.

*Game Leaders who attend the workshops will be sent the link to register with the NSFRA

Payments for Game Leaders

Game Leaders will be paid $22.50 per match which includes $25.00 less 10% paid to the NSFRA to fund its operation. Game Leaders must enter their bank details into their DRIBL account for payments to be processed.

Making Yourself Available to be a Game Leader on Match Days

For being allocated to matches, Game Leaders will now have to add their availability to DRIBL. This will allow them to be allocated to matches directly and notified of any match updates/changes (e.g., on wet weather weekends). Game Leaders can provide a note on which area/location they would prefer to be allocated to.

For NSFRA Referees wanting to be Game Leaders for JDL matches, you can indicate your availability for matches through DRIBL.

Any questions should be directed to the Referees Manager at referees@nsfra.com.au.
