The league has now split into the top seven and bottom six, with the races for the Women’s Premier League 1 and 2 titles heating up. Northbridge continued their relentless pursuit of UTS with an 11th consecutive victory, while the league leaders also secured a crucial three points to maintain their advantage. Hornsby Heights claimed an important win, and in the battle of the lower half, both Epping and Beecroft were victorious, with Epping holding a narrow edge.

Northbridge FC 2 – 1 Lindfield FC
This was a match with significant implications for both sides. Northbridge needed all three points to keep pace with UTS at the top of the table, having matched the league leaders stride for stride over the past 11 weeks. Standing in their way was arguably their toughest challenge yet in Lindfield, who were looking to build momentum ahead of Sunday’s State Cup Final. The stage was set for a blockbuster at Northbridge Oval.
Northbridge couldn’t have asked for a better start, opening the scoring after just four minutes through Eloise Hansen. From there, the contest settled into a tightly fought battle, with chances proving hard to come by. Just when it looked as though the teams would head into the break separated by a single goal, the home side struck four minutes before half-time through Hannah Young to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
As expected, Lindfield emerged after the break with renewed intensity, throwing everything forward in search of a way back into the contest. Northbridge responded with a disciplined defensive performance, standing firm under sustained pressure and frustrating the visitors for much of the second half. Lindfield eventually found a breakthrough in the 85th minute, setting up a nervy finish, but the goal came too late in the contest.
Northbridge held on to claim another crucial victory, keeping the pressure firmly on UTS and ensuring the title race remains alive heading into the closing rounds. While the Premiership may now be out of reach for Lindfield, they will take plenty of confidence into Sunday’s State Cup Final as they chase silverware to cap off an impressive season.
Hornsby Heights FC 2 – 0 West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC
This was an important clash between two quality sides looking to build consistency in the closing stages of the season. West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook arrived at Montview above Heights on the ladder, while Heights knew a victory would move them to within a single point of their opponents and strengthen their finals aspirations.
The home side made the brighter start, with Saba Murray opening the scoring in the first half. Despite both teams creating opportunities in an entertaining contest, Heights took their one-goal advantage into the break with WPHC searching for a response.
Heights remained in control after half-time and were rewarded when Mia Hing added a second goal, further highlighting the goalscoring form she has produced throughout the season. Holding a two-goal cushion, the hosts managed the contest professionally, limiting WPHC’s opportunities and seeing out a deserved victory.
The result moves Heights to within one point of West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook, giving them valuable momentum as they continue their push for a place in the top four. WPHC, meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back quickly and rediscover the form that has kept them among the competition’s leading sides throughout the season.
North Sydney United 1 – 4 UTS FC
UTS continued to set the benchmark in the competition, extending their winning run to remain ahead of Northbridge at the top of the table. Travelling to Cammeray, the league leaders were chasing another three points, while North Sydney United were eager to make the most of home advantage and return to form.
The visitors made a strong start, with Stafanie Aisbett adding another goal to her outstanding season to give UTS an early lead. Georgina Bannister doubled the advantage before the hosts found a lifeline on the stroke of half-time, as Zoe Seeley produced a quality finish to reduce the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.
UTS responded exactly as they would have hoped after half-time, restoring their two-goal cushion just five minutes into the second half through Emily De Freitas. From there, the league leaders controlled possession, dictated the tempo and denied North Sydney United the opportunity to mount a comeback.
De Freitas put the result beyond doubt with her second goal of the afternoon in the 87th minute, sealing a convincing 4-1 victory and another crucial three points in the Premiership race. With a challenging away trip to the rested Flying Bats awaiting next week, UTS will need to maintain the consistency that has kept them at the summit all season.
Congratulations to Emily De Freitas, our Player of the Round, after her match-winning brace helped guide UTS to another important victory.

Northern Galaxy 0 – 2 Beecroft FC
With the race for first heating up in both halves of the league, every point is proving crucial. Epping and Beecroft entered the split leading the lower half standings, while Northern Galaxy remained in striking distance, needing a win to stay in the hunt for top spot.
Beecroft travelled to Berowra Oval determined to keep the pressure on Epping. It was a tightly contested opening half, with both sides defending well and creating few clear-cut opportunities. Neither team could break the deadlock before the interval, sending the match into halftime locked at 0-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams searching for the breakthrough in what looked destined to be decided by a single moment. That moment arrived with just 10 minutes remaining, when Malana Kelly found the back of the net to hand Beecroft a deserved lead. Any hopes of a Northern Galaxy comeback were quickly extinguished three minutes later, as Kelly completed her brace to seal a 2-0 victory.
The late win could prove invaluable for Beecroft, who remain just one point behind Epping at the top of the lower half standings and in contention to claim first place over the coming weeks.
