We’ve officially passed the halfway mark of the league season, and the competition remains as unpredictable as ever.
Frantic Friday delivered the drama once again, with Kissing Point getting revenge over their rivals in an eight-goal thriller, defeating them 5-3 at Charles Bean. Meanwhile, Northbridge recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dalleys.
Saturday continued the surprises, with both winning sides starting the round below their opponents on the ladder. Lindfield claimed an impressive win over Berowra, while Knox picked up three valuable points against North Sydney United. Heights and Chatswood couldn’t be separated, playing out a 1–1 draw at Montview.

Willoughby Dalleys 0 – 3 Northbridge FC
Northbridge entered the clash sitting at the top of the league table, but a recent dip in form had narrowed their advantage. Facing a Dalleys side coming off a win and a draw, they were determined to return to their best.
The opening stages were evenly contested, with Northbridge taking time to settle into the contest. Once they found their rhythm, they took control. Benjamin Dreger opened the scoring before Derek Karapetian added a second to give the visitors a commanding lead heading into halftime.
The second half was a composed and professional performance. Northbridge controlled proceedings and further extended their advantage through Karapetian’s second goal of the afternoon. Defensively, they remained solid and limited the hosts throughout, securing an important 3–0 victory.
The result stretches their lead at the top of the table to four points and placed pressure firmly on the sides still to play on Saturday.
West Pymble FC 3 – 5 Kissing Point FC
There was plenty of anticipation surrounding this clash, with the Stewart Close Cup on the line and Kissing Point eager for revenge. The Round 1 meeting saw West Pymble claim a dominant 5-1 victory, and Kissing Point arrived determined to make amends. Despite entering the match unbeaten, West Pymble had recorded just one win in their previous six outings.
Under the Friday night lights, it was the home side who started brightly. Joshua Owen To struck twice inside the opening 21 minutes to put West Pymble in control. Kissing Point responded through star striker Lachie Marlin, but a penalty converted by Luke Currie restored the two-goal advantage and sent West Pymble into halftime leading 3–1.
Kissing Point needed something special in the second half. With plenty of motivation from the NSFA Match of the Round Preview caption, and the prospect of defeat to their rivals looming, they emerged for the second half with renewed energy and intent. Tyler Spang gave them the perfect start after the break, pulling one back before Cameron Veldhuizen levelled the scores and erased West Pymble’s advantage.
After scoring in the first half, last season’s Golden Boot winner stepped up again to take control of the contest. Marlin fired home the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute before completing a stunning hat-trick just seven minutes later to cap off an incredible turnaround and put Kissing Point ahead 5-3.
The score remained unchanged as Kissing Point completed one of the comebacks of the season and claimed all three points in a memorable Stewart Close Cup clash.
Congratulations to West Pymble, who retain the Stewart Close Cup on aggregate across the two fixtures this season and well done to both teams for producing two outstanding contests.
This week’s Player of the Round is Lachie Marlin, whose second-half heroics and superb hat-trick inspired Kissing Point to victory.

North Sydney United 1 – 2 Knox United
North Sydney United came into this home clash looking to respond after back-to-back defeats had slowed what had otherwise been a strong season. Standing in their way was a confident Knox United side, fresh off an impressive win over Hornsby Heights and eager to get some good content for their newly formed Premier League Instagram Page.
The opening half was tightly contested, with both sides creating chances but unable to find the breakthrough.
Whatever was said in the Knox dressing room at halftime had an immediate impact. Just two minutes into the second half, Oscar Walker broke the deadlock to put the visitors in front, before Oliver Gibson doubled the advantage only five minutes later, giving Knox firm control of the contest.
North Sydney United pushed hard to get back into the game. Their pressure paid off in the 69th minute when Colm Walsh found the net to reduce the deficit to 2–1 and set up a tense finish.
Despite the late pressure and North Sydney United’s search for an equaliser, Knox stood strong defensively and saw out an important 2–1 victory.
The result moves Knox level on points with North Sydney United and brings them closer to the mid-table battle than at any point this season.
Berowra FC 0 – 1 Lindfield FC
Berowra entered the clash as the form side of the competition and in need of all three points to keep pace with Northbridge, who had secured a win the night before. Meanwhile, Lindfield continued their all-or-nothing season, yet to record a draw.
On Saturday afternoon at Berowra Oval, it quickly became clear the contest would be a tight one. Neither side could break the deadlock in the opening half, with the teams heading into the break level after a hard-fought opening 45 minutes.
The breakthrough finally came midway through the second half when Noah Hunt found the back of the net for the visitors. The goal gave Lindfield something to defend, and they continued the match with a disciplined defensive effort, backed by strong energy from the bench.
Berowra pushed late in search of an equaliser on home soil, but Lindfield held firm to secure an impressive upset victory away from home.
The result sees Berowra fall four points behind at the top of the table, while Lindfield climbs into fourth place.
Hornsby Heights FC 1 – 1 Chatswood Rangers
Heights were looking to bounce back at home after a stumble last week ended a run of strong form, while Chatswood arrived determined to claim all three points on the road.
The hosts made the brighter start and turned their pressure into a breakthrough in the 17th minute, forcing an own goal to take the lead. Heights carried that advantage into halftime and looked set to build on it after the break.
However, Chatswood responded in ideal fashion early in the second half, with Euan Spiers finding the equaliser and bringing the visitors back into the contest. Heights were forced to regroup as the match remained evenly balanced.
Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner, with the points shared at full-time. The result leaves Heights unable to climb away from the middle of the table, while Chatswood remain at the foot of the standings.
