Round 10 of the Women’s Premier League reinforced just how tight and competitive the league remains, with several significant results shaping the race for the top spots. Hornsby Heights continued their impressive form with a dominant 6-0 victory over Beecroft, while Northbridge edged out WPHC in a hard-fought contest, securing a valuable 1-0 win. Northern Galaxy and Normanhurst Eagles also collected an important three points with victories on Sunday. As the season progresses, every result is proving crucial in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested campaign.

West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC 0 – 1 Northbridge FC
This was a crucial fixture in the title race, with WPHC and Northbridge entering the match in strong form and coming off impressive results. With the competition so tightly contested, three points would prove invaluable in the battle near the top of the table.
The match was a hard-fought affair at Campbell Park, with both teams defending resolutely and limiting clear-cut opportunities. Neither side was able to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes, as the contest remained scoreless heading into halftime.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with chances at a premium and both defences standing firm. As the clock ticked down, the match appeared destined to finish in a stalemate. However, Northbridge found the breakthrough in the 69th minute when Mathilda Hendriks produced the decisive moment, firing home to give the visitors the lead.
WPHC pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Northbridge’s defence held strong to secure a vital 1-0 victory. The result sees Northbridge move three points clear of WPHC and continue their push towards the top of the league standings.
Macquarie Dragons 0 – 2 Northern Galaxy
This was another closely contested fixture in Round 9, with both sides entering the match level on six points and eager to create some breathing room from the lower end of the ladder.
Northern Galaxy made the trip to West Epping Park determined to claim all three points, and they took a significant step towards doing so midway through the first half. Lauren West continued her outstanding season, finding the back of the net to give the visitors a deserved lead.
The score remained 1-0 at the break, with Galaxy carrying their advantage into the second half. The Macquarie Dragons searched for an equaliser and applied pressure, but Galaxy’s defence stood firm to protect their lead.
As the home side pushed forward in the closing stages, Northern Galaxy struck the decisive blow. Yvonne Roosink dramatically sealed the result with an 82nd-minute goal, securing a valuable 2-0 victory for the visitors.
The win lifts Northern Galaxy three points clear of the Dragons, who remain one place behind them on the league ladder.
Hornsby Heights FC 6 – 0 Beecroft FC
Hornsby Heights entered the match looking to bounce back after a narrow defeat to Northbridge the previous week, while Beecroft arrived with an even record of four wins and four losses. With both sides aiming to strengthen their position on the ladder, the result carried significant weighting.
Despite the teams sitting close together on the table, Hornsby Heights quickly showed they meant business. Grace Perring gave the home side the perfect start at Montview, opening the scoring just three minutes into the contest.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings, with Mia Hing returning to the scoresheet in style. Hing struck twice in the first half, finding the back of the net in the 16th and 36th minutes to give Heights a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break.
There was no let-up after halftime, as Perring grabbed her second goal of the afternoon shortly after the restart. Hornsby Heights maintained their relentless attacking pressure, with Simona Vitale and Keely Macgregor also getting on the scoresheet to complete an emphatic 6-0 victory.
The result sends a strong message to the rest of the competition, with Hornsby Heights continuing their impressive recent form, looking capable of breaking into the top six and pushing even further up the ladder.

Epping FC 0 – 4 Lindfield FC
This midweek fixture was played under lights at West Epping Park, with both sides chasing important points. Lindfield entered the match looking to build consistency after a mixed run of results, while Epping were aiming to keep pace with the teams around them and strengthen their push for a place in the top six.
The home side started brightly and came within inches of opening the scoring early, with one effort striking both posts before somehow staying out. Lindfield responded in the best possible fashion, taking control of the contest and racing to a three-goal lead before halftime. Lilly Reading was once again among the goals, continuing her impressive form in front of goal.
Epping searched for a way back into the match after the break, but Lindfield’s defence remained organised and resolute, limiting the hosts’ opportunities. As the game entered its closing stages, Lindfield put the result beyond doubt with a fourth goal, with Emma Hochart finding the back of the net for the second consecutive match.
The convincing victory keeps Lindfield firmly in the title race, moving them to within three points of the league leaders, albeit having played an extra game.
UTS FC 5 – 2 North Sydney United
This rescheduled Round 8 fixture carried significant importance in the title race, with UTS looking to strengthen their position at the top of the table, while North Sydney United were eager to bounce back after suffering defeat the previous week.
UTS made a strong start and took control of the contest in the first half. Stefanie Aisbett continued her outstanding goal scoring form by opening the scoring, before Hannah Macri and Lillian Dummett added further goals to give the home side a commanding 3-0 advantage heading into the break.
North Sydney United showed plenty of fight after halftime and reduced the deficit through Audrey Suckling in the 50th minute, raising hopes of a comeback. However, UTS responded immediately, restoring their three-goal cushion just three minutes later courtesy of an own goal.
The visitors refused to go away, with Zoe Seeley finding the back of the net in the 67th minute to once again cut the margin. But Aisbett ended any hopes of a late revival, grabbing her second goal of the evening with 15 minutes remaining, sealing an impressive 5-2 victory for the league leaders.
The result sees UTS move two points clear at the top of the table, a valuable advantage in what remains a fiercely contested title race with Northbridge and Lindfield continuing to apply pressure. Meanwhile, North Sydney United will be looking to halt their slide, with Hornsby Heights now sitting just two points behind them on the ladder.
