Phil was a member of the Wahroonga Tigers in the 1990s when it was one of the largest clubs within the Association. Phil Bradfield was President of Wahroonga Club for 12 years. After his time as President, Phil became the Treasurer of the club. By 2009 Phil had been involved with the club for over 20 years. During the time that Phil was involved with the club, a fund-raising ball was held at Telstra Stadium in 2002. The ball raised close to $23,000. This allowed the club to install competition-grade lighting at Ku-ring-gai High School and completely resurface the fields for use in training and competition games.
Phil would often be seen on the sidelines of Wahroonga matches on Saturday afternoons. He was a passionate supporter of the club and a supportive member to many of the players and often accompanied players to PD&DC hearings. Wahroonga was one of the foundation clubs when the Ku-ring-gai and District Soccer Association (KDSA) was formed in 1957 and grew to be one of the largest clubs in the Association. In December 2017, Wahroonga Tigers and Bannockburn (Rovers) Clarke Road merged to become Turramurra United Football Club.

In 2007, Phil became the Treasurer of the Association taking over the role of fellow Life Member Roy Ashpole. Phil continued in the Treasurer role until the end of 2012. Phil was known to do a tremendous amount of work to improve the Association’s financial management systems. He made changes to the Annual Financial Statement with a view to giving greater transparency and producing accounts that club officials would find easier to understand, without compromising any governance requirements.
Phil was known to attend the Association’s Cup Final day to present the Treasurer’s Shield to the winning team. Below are two photos showing Phil at the Treasurer’s Shield presentation.

At the 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Association, there was much debate from the floor about the criteria to determine Life Membership of the Association. It was agreed that Phil would form a Committee which was made up of himself and existing Life Members to establish criteria for determining Life Membership. The outcomes of this Committee forms the basis for Life Membership criteria still used today.
Phil was inducted as a Life Member of the Association in 2008 along with a number of other notable Life Members Peter Reeves, Roy Ashpole, Chris Rayner, Damian Miles and Brian Troy. We thank Phil for his tireless efforts at Club and Association levels. Without volunteers like Phil the Association would not be where it is today.
