The Champions are confirmed with 3 rounds to go, as Northbridge defeated their nearest challengers to bring the Men’s Premier League title back to Northbridge Oval. In a week full of blockbuster fixtures, West Pymble got a massive win against Knox in their bid to stay up, whilst Heights had derby delight at fortress Montview as they defeated Berowra in a dominant display.
West Pymble FC 4 – 2 Knox United
This was one of the biggest matches of the season in the battle to avoid relegation, with the two clubs separated by just one point in 8th and 9th on the Club Championship standings heading into the weekend.
Knox United started brightly, controlling the opening half hour and taking a deserved lead through Zachary Bannister. However, West Pymble made the most of their first chance of the match, with Matthew Lee levelling the scores against the run of play. The momentum quickly shifted, and an own goal soon after gave West Pymble a 2-1 advantage heading into the break.
The second half was a hard-fought contest, with Knox pushing to find an equaliser. Instead, West Pymble extended their lead after forcing a second own goal to make it 3-1. Knox hit back almost immediately through Ethan Munday to keep the contest alive at 3-2.
Bailey Stevens made his return, while Timothy Green restored West Pymble’s two-goal cushion with a crucial fourth. Knox were handed one final opportunity to mount a comeback after winning a late penalty, but goalkeeper Tom Blackett produced a brilliant save to deny them and seal a vital 4-2 victory.
Combined with a Reserve Grade win, it was a massive 12-point weekend for West Pymble. The results lift the club to sixth on the Club Championship standings, but they remain in the mix as a tightly packed group of clubs continues to fight for valuable points in the closing weeks of the season.
Northbridge FC 2 – 0 Kissing Point FC
This was a match as big as they come, with Northbridge having the opportunity to win the league at their home ground with three rounds left. Conversely, a win for Kissing Point would take them within four points of Northbridge and set up a grandstand finish for first place. Everything was on the line, but who would rise to the occasion?
The opening half lived up to the occasion, with the competition’s top two sides locked in a tense, high-quality contest. Neither team was willing to give an inch, and despite Kissing Point’s inconsistent season, the reigning champions showed exactly why they remained a genuine threat. Chances were limited, defences stood tall, and the sides went into the break locked at 0-0.
The tension only grew after half-time as the clock ticked on, with the Northbridge faithful feeling the nerves with history in their grasp. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 66th minute when Matthew Chung found the back of the net, sending Northbridge Oval into celebration.
The goal was a special moment for the home side, and the momentum ran through every player on the park. Just two minutes later, Branden Waeger doubled the advantage, putting Northbridge firmly in control to mark a historic season with a classic victory.
From there, Northbridge produced a composed defensive display, shutting down every Kissing Point attack and refusing to let the moment slip. As the final whistle sounded, the celebrations began, with Northbridge officially crowned the 2026 Men’s Premier League Champions.
It has been a remarkable campaign for Northbridge, who now boast a record of 11 wins, two draws and just two defeats, putting them 10 points clear of their nearest challenger. Congratulations to the players, coaches and everyone involved at the club on a thoroughly deserved premiership.
Willoughby Dalleys 0 – 4 Lindfield FC
This was a match that was impossible to predict, with Willoughby Dalleys looking to continue their strong form after three wins in a row, whilst Lindfield were eager to get firmly back on track, after inconsistency had yet again halted them despite being one of the best in the league on their day.
Playing at Charles Bean, Lindfield were determined to start strong, coming from two losses. They did exactly that, with two quickfire goals from Patrick Venture and Noah Hunt putting them up 2-0. Dalleys hoped to regroup at halftime, but Lindfield inflicted more damage just before the whistle as James Ferris made it three.
Both sides turned to their bench in the second half, but ultimately it was Lindfield’s day. They remained in control, and found a fourth goal in the 70th minute through Luke Klusman. A late red card for Ashton Drew after receiving his second yellow summed up the day for Dalleys, who were unable to get into the game.
The win is important for Lindfield, who will hope to secure finals in the closing weeks, whilst Dalleys have everything to play for in the final stages of the season.
North Sydney United 1 – 2 Chatswood Rangers
North Sydney United entered the match looking to build on an important victory the previous week, hoping to turn their recent form around. Chatswood Rangers, meanwhile, had shown significant improvement throughout the second half of the season and arrived confident of a win
It was a frantic start at Cammeray Oval, with Zachary Kalogerou giving North Sydney United the perfect start by opening the scoring just two minutes into the match. Chatswood responded quickly, as Euan Spiers found the equaliser within the opening 10 minutes to set up an entertaining contest.
The remainder of the first half was evenly balanced, but it was Chatswood who struck the decisive blow before the break, with Luka Gwozdecky putting the visitors ahead to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.
North Sydney United made three changes in the second half as they searched for an equaliser, but Chatswood stood firm. A disciplined defensive performance kept the hosts at bay, allowing the visitors to hold on for a valuable 2-1 victory.
The result extends Chatswood’s unbeaten run to three matches and gives them hope of avoiding the wooden spoon in the closing weeks of the season. North Sydney United have found results harder to come by in the second half of the campaign, but remain in a comfortable position on the Club Championship standings.
Hornsby Heights 3 – 1 Berowra FC
The local derby returned as Hornsby Heights and Berowra renewed one of the competition’s fiercest rivalries. Their first meeting earlier this season produced one of the games of the year, with Heights storming back from 3-0 down to claim an incredible 4-3 victory. With both sides level on points and chasing a top-four finish, there was plenty at stake at Montview Oval.
The opening half lived up to the occasion. Tino Knight gave Hornsby Heights the lead in the 17th minute, but the advantage lasted less than a minute as Brad Feilder produced an immediate response to level the scores. Undeterred, Heights regrouped and struck another crucial blow just before half-time, with Knight grabbing his second of the afternoon to restore the hosts’ advantage.
Hornsby Heights carried that momentum into the second half, and Oliver Hing continued his impressive goalscoring form by extending the lead to 3-1 shortly after the restart. The goal proved a decisive moment, with Berowra unable to recover despite their efforts to fight back.
From there, Heights controlled proceedings, producing a composed performance to see out an impressive 3-1 victory in front of their home supporters.
The result completes a derby double for Hornsby Heights this season after their dramatic comeback win earlier in the year. Beyond the local bragging rights, the victory moves Heights three points clear of Berowra and strengthens their position in the race for a top-four finish.
