NSFA Female Game 2020

NSFA Female Game 2020

As part of its ongoing commitment to developing female football in the region, NSFA has reviewed and modified its current offerings for the 2020 season onwards. These changes were presented to clubs at the NSFA Club Coach Coordinator (CCC) and Female Football Working Group (FFWG) End of Season Celebration last month, with the goal of improving the player experience to increase retention rates. NSFA and the FFWG have set a goal of increasing female representation from 23% of the player base to 32% by 2023. This target is part of the long-term goal of 50-50 participation laid out in the FFA’s Gender Equality Action Plan.

Diamond League

In 2020 Diamond League will be for players aged U12 to U18. The focus of this league is creating a positive and engaging environment for player development. NSFA has moved Diamond League back to a licensing format to help assist Diamond League clubs with a long-term strategy for the girls’ game that allows for growth. There will be requirements for the club to meet to ensure players are provided a sustainable development pathway for the future.

2020 Diamond League Clubs are:

Chatswood Rangers

Hornsby Heights FC

Kissing Point FC

Lindfield FC

Northbridge FC

North Sydney United

Turramurra United

West Pymble FC

We thank these clubs for all their hard work in the girls’ game to date and look forward to working with them to keep raising the standards when it comes to girls game within NSFA.

Clubs are permitted to commence Diamond League trials from November 16th. For more information regarding Diamond League trials please contact the NSFA club directly.

SAPPHIRES

U8 to U11 Sunday football has been rebranded as Sapphires. All teams from these age groups will be Sapphires. The aim of Sapphires is to provide a positive and engaging environment that allows the player to fall in love with the beautiful game.

  • Focus is Fun and Engagement
  • Sunday games will look to be hubbed
  • Regrading and flexibility will occur to ensure the players are enjoying the game
  • Inspire will have a Sapphires curriculum
  • NSFA will host Sapphires Coach Education Opportunities
  • Sapphires will have gala days throughout the season

Please note all girls’ teams that fall in this age bracket will be involved in Sapphires 2020.

Sapphires will play a critical role in the future of Diamond League as it’s where we will increase the depth of female players.

NSFA is committed to prioritising the female game and we look forward to investing with the champions at NSFA clubs to transform the girls NSFA football experience moving forward.

Please contact Eilidh Mackay (rpm@nsfa.asn.au) should you require further clarification or have any questions related to the above.
