On Sunday afternoon our NSFA Super League and Diamond League coaches gathered at Charles Bean Oval, Lindfield, for their pre-season coaching workshop.
Headlining the workshop presenters was Football NSW Technical Director Warren Grieve, who provided coaches with an insight into the FFA playing methodology in a game setting.
While observing a mini-match between the Lindfield and Northbridge Under 14 Super League teams, Grieve provided live analysis of the patterns of play while also providing advice and adjustments to both teams.
“It was fantastic to have someone with Warren’s expertise come and present to our local coaches,” said Ed Ferguson, NSFA Community Football Manager.
“The level of insight was on par with what you would receive from a C or B Licence course so it was a new experience for most of the attendees and improved their football knowledge.”
The coaches were also given a presentation from Lennart van Zeelst of Catapult Sports, who spoke about the benefits of their PLAYR GPS Tracker system for improving player performance.
Sydney FC players Trent Buhagiar and Chris Zuvela did a Q&A session with the coaches, discussing their experiences as junior players and the coaching behaviours that allowed them to further their development and progress to an A-League level.
Ed Ferguson reinforced the growing standards of the Super League and Diamond League competitions and the enhanced development opportunities it provides both players and coaches within the region.

“This year we have seen even more players and coaches with representative backgrounds joining Super League and Diamond League clubs,” he said.
“Adding this into the existing foundations of our NSFA club players and coaches further strengthens our competitions to provide a pathway into the Northern Tigers NPL teams.”
