Female Football Working Group looks ahead

Female Football Working Group looks ahead

Last week our newly-assembled Female Football Working Group (FFWG) met to exchange ideas and gain assistance in planning initiatives for the upcoming winter season.

The purpose of the FFWG is to gather like-minded individuals from within the NSFA football landscape together in order to collaborate and develop ideas and strategies to strengthen the growth and development of female football.

Of particular focus in last week’s meeting was preparations for 2019 Female Football Week (FFW), which will run from Saturday 25th May – Sunday 2nd June. Discussion centred around the NSFA schedule of events and how our NSFA clubs can co-operate to promote them, as well as conduct their own initiatives to complement what is already on offer, which includes the following:

  • Northern Tigers Women’s NPL home fixtures
  • Pararoos Development Centre sessions
  • Free ‘Come and Try’ sessions for XLR8’s Women’s Skill Training program
  • Female Coach Education Workshop
  • Female Football Friday at North Turramurra Recreation Area

FFW will lead into the 2019 Women’s World Cup, where the Matildas hope to make a strong attempt at becoming world champions for the first time.

NSFA is also committed to the following initiatives throughout the season:

  • Ongoing support of existing Diamond League structure
  • Ongoing support of Girls PSSA programs
  • Pathway opportunities through Northern Tigers
  • NSFA Skellern Cup
  • Further development opportunities through XLR8 programs
  • Female Coach Mentoring program
