The Five Pillars of Success

Competitions

Maximising game time for every player.

As a core product of NSFA, Competitions plays a significant role in enabling NSFA to deliver a positive community football experience to our membership. We look to put our competitions first and adapt to our membership to provide them football the way they want to play football.

Our Goals

Our Outcomes

  • Match day experience – NPS of 80%+ (NPS categorised for each age group and Development Leagues)
  • Summer Football – participation increase of 30%
  • Minimum 8-team Division One competitions for Under 13 to Under 18
  • Minimum 10-team Division One competitions for All Age and Over Age

Our Tactics

  • Implementation of alternative playing formats to reflect member needs and trends
  • Reinvigorate NSFA Cup competitions
  • Competition regulations to reflect participant needs (social & development-focused options)
  • Investment in Development Leagues (NSFA SAP League, Super League and Diamond League)
  • Improvement of winter season match day experience (particularly Sundays)
  • Improve the competition integrity across the Association
  • Improve competition structures and communication to members
  • Ongoing support of all-abilities programs, attraction tournaments and seniors playing options

Community Football Development

To foster long-term connection and engagement in football.

Community Football Development is integral to ensure NSFA supports our community clubs and volunteers by building their capabilities and future-proofing the region as capacity increases. We strive to put the player first in our decision-making.

Our Goals

Our Outcomes

  • Increase player retention rate to 75% overall (2019 – 69%)
  • Increase female participation to represent 32% of players
  • To improve coverage and quality of referees
  • XLR8 expansion to cater for 5,000 players
  • Increase CCC program by 30% (clubs and CCC involvement)

Pathways

Developing future football.

Our Pathways pillar relates to the pathway opportunities for players, coaches and clubs to be the best they can be. We see it as our purpose to achieve long-term development by offering modern, innovative and best-practice opportunities to our members.

  • Retention rate of Development Leagues at 90%+
  • Northern Tigers represented by 75% local players in Youth, Under 18, Under 20 and Reserve Grade teams
  • Northern Tigers represented by 85% local coaches in SAP and Youth
  • NPL1 Pathway representation
  • Gain 2 star National Club Academy accreditation for Northern Tigers

  • Increase awareness of pathway opportunities through the consistent integration of NSFA clubs with Northern Tigers FC
  • Ongoing support and investment to create best-practice development programs within clubs
  • Continued investment and evolution of NSFA pathways (players & coaches)
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and education opportunities for Northern Tigers FC coaches and players to become best-practice leaders
  • Northern Tigers FC Men’s and Women’s teams competing in NPL1

Facilities

Building for the future.

We must prepare for the future of football, whereby we are predicted to surpass 20,000 winter registrations by 2026. Our efforts must be towards future-proofing the region to ensure football continues to be the cornerstone of our community.

  • Increased number of synthetic fields – total of 12 built/in planning
  • Home of Football construction completion

Our Tactics

  • Review all facilities and align with local government to increase capacity of fields through conversion to synthetic grass and upgrades of natural turf and lighting
  • Investigate ‘shared facilities’ opportunities in the region with schools, other sporting organisations, local governments etc.
  • Build and foster strong relationships with multiple tiers of government to benefit the NSFA membership
  • Complete the construction of the NSFA ‘Home of Football’
  • Applications for grants and funding initiatives
  • Strategically invest in facilities to futureproof football in the region

Marketing and Communications

Building the brand.

The NSFA is rich in football and we intend to celebrate the success both on and off the park. Our communications will be the voice box of NSFA activities and share the success of our members. Through our communications, we will instill a football culture unique to Australia.

    • NSFA – 6,000 followers
    • Northern Tigers – 5,000 followers
    • XLR8 – 1,500 followers
  • Growth of sponsorship by 30%

  • Investment in technology to improve communication efficiency
  • Consistent promotion of NSFA activities, clubs and members via social media
  • Use of highly engaging content associated with Northern Tigers FC
  • Utilising data and analytics to expand our worth
  • Recognition and celebration of success stories within the football community
  • Promoting the history of football
  • Commercialisation of NSFA-created products (XLR8 Player Development & INSPIRE FC)
