Support the NSFA MND Round – Honouring Damian Miles and Fighting Motor Neurone Disease

Join us from June 21st to 30th to raise awareness and funds for MND NSW.

The Northern Suburbs Football Association will once again be conducting the association’s MND Round, commencing Friday June 21st through till Sunday the 30th, aiming to increase awareness about Motor Neurone Disease (MND), raise funds for MND NSW, and show our support for former NSFA Competitions Manager Damian Miles, who was diagnosed with MND in 2020 and on Saturday 24th September 2022 peacefully passed away in hospital.

In football the crowd and support staff of a team is often referred to as the ‘12th man’, providing additional support to those on the field to win the match and perform their best. Damian has long been the 12th man within NSFA, contributing significantly to NSFA, KDSA, KDFRA and Northern Tigers FC during his time involved. Damian will forever be the 12th man of local football within NSFA which we will recognise and celebrate each season.

Damian Miles, a life member of both NSFA and the Ku-ring-gai & District Football Referees Association, has dedicated 14 years of his life to NSFA, leaving an indelible mark on the football community. His involvement with the NSFA representative club, Northern Tigers FC, as the Men’s First Grade Team Manager for 7 seasons, has further solidified his influence and impact.

Event Dates: COMPS ROUND 12

Senior Comps – 21st, 22nd & 23rd June

Junior Comps – 28th, 29th & 30th June

How to Get Involved:

Speaking about the MND NSW Round, NSFA CEO Kevin Johnson emphasised its dual purpose: “Our MND NSW round not only aims to raise awareness of Motor Neuron Disease but also work towards raising vital funds to provide support for people living with the disease, plus their families, friends and carers. Damian was a long-serving NSFA staff member, however even before this time, he was a valued member of our football community. We hope to honour his legacy within our football family during Round 12”.

The MND NSW Round will feature a series of events and initiatives across NSFA throughout the week. NSFA will spearhead fundraising efforts, including challenges, donations, and promotional material, to support MND NSW’s mission. All NSFA clubs and Northern Tigers FC members are invited to contribute to the fundraising drive.
