Female Football Week Wrap-Up

Female Football Week Wrap-Up

Female Football Week (FFW) has been a major event in the calendar for the NSFA Female Football Working Group and their efforts to increase the retention rate of female players in the region. This concept of focusing on the player experience has led to the What’s Best For Her plan.

It’s fantastic to see NSFA football community get behind the vision of having the highest number of female participants in the game.

Across both Female Football Friday events we saw an incredible 300+ girls get involved. There was a range of initiatives available: XLR8 Skills and Goalkeeper sessions, Northern Tigers GSAP vs NSFA Diamond League exhibition games, and NSFA competition matches for Diamond League and Women’s Premier League.

We also celebrated our female referees who were involved in our Female Football Friday Blackman event, alongside hosting a Female MiniRoos Coaching Course. Special mention to NSFA Coach Developer Lorin Lambert, who delivered the course for the first time under the guidance of NSFA Coach Developer Manager Jake Stephenson.

Instead of being sad it’s over, we are excited that Female Football Week retention initiative has expanded to include club female football weeks. Each Female Football Working Group club will be arranging club events and media spotlights during the dates below.

The momentum continues to build as we lead into the 2023 Women’s World Cup. NSFA are determined to create a legacy that transforms the game for our football community.
