Thomson Park Upgrade 2024

Thomson Park Upgrade 2024

Willoughby Council has commenced the development of the Thomson Oval Synthetic Renewal project in January.

As part of the synthetic renewal, Council has consulted with NSFA and other stakeholders to deliver the following upgrades –

  • Purpose built U12 Football field to cater for NSFA’s current scheduling. This includes reconfiguration of current line marking.
  • Levelling the field at the Southern end (cricket net) to increase the usable space
  • Perimeter athletics/walking track to support & clearly delineate the space available for this purpose separate to sporting use
  • Retractable net to separate organized sports groups and general community use
  • Goal storage area
  • 1 x portable full-size senior football goal + 2x portable U12-size football goals

Works undertaken throughout February include the construction of the goal storage area, expansion of the sandstone retaining along the eastern edge of the field and tree pruning works. Works also commenced on the spectator seating area with drainage works and the new staircase now completed.

The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2024.

Willoughby Council were successful in obtaining additional funding for the project via the NSW Office of Sport NSW Football legacy Fund Grant Program for $150,000. Thank you to Willoughby Council for delivering the upgrade, we can’t wait to use Thomson Park for the upcoming season!!
