Coaching Workshops Wrap-Up

Coaching Workshops Wrap-Up

Throughout the lockdown in July and August, we introduced our ‘NSFA Workshop Wednesdays’ Coaching series in order to support supplementary learning opportunities for all coaches from within their own homes. During the series, it was important to cater for and support a variety of learners across different topics, experience levels or the environments they currently work within. There was a focus on delivering the following workshops:

  • Sydney FC Workshop – Competencies of Coaching
  • Introduction to Coaching Methods
  • Online Drop-In Session – asking specific questions for your environment
  • Coaching within the Female Game
  • Mental Health #LetsTalk
  • Football NSW – Purposeful Player Development Workshop

Over the course of six weeks, 145+ coaches were engaged in the workshops and we were delighted to see the positive engagement throughout. Coaches continued to be receptive, positive, open-minded, show a growth mindset and challenged others’ thinking during each workshop. This is the special part of coach education – as we all come together to learn from others’ discussions, opinions and rationale behind decision making to support the players and clubs on the ground in individual settings.

Alongside thanking the NSFA Coach Education department from their involvement, we’d also like to thank the special guest speakers who have been involved within this series for providing their expert experiences and insights into coaching on many levels;

  • Kelly Cross – Sydney FC Youth Technical Director
  • Shona Bass – Ex-Matilda & Football Victoria Hall of Fame Inductee
  • Steven Gamble – Founder of ManAnchor, Mental Health Organisation
  • Drew Taylor – Football NSW Player Development Manager

Finally, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve also had coaches involved from 20 clubs across NSFA, and it is clear to see that our engagement with clubs and coaches is at the forefront of coach and player development across the NSFA region moving forwards.

Clubs represented: Berowra FC, Chatswood Rangers Gordon SC, Hornsby Heights FC, Kissing Point FC, Lane Cone FC, Lane Cove West, North Sydney United, Northbridge FC, Northern Tigers FC, Turramurra United FC, West Pymble FC, St Ives FC, Knox United, Mount Colah FC, Asquith SC, Lindfield FC, St Michaels FC, UTS FC, Willoughby Dalleys FC.

On behalf of NSFA Coach Education, thank you for your involvement and keep an eye out for any future learning opportunities and workshops from now until the end of the year!
