Frame Football Come and Try Day a Success!

Frame Football Come and Try Day a Success!

On Saturday the 7th of May, NSFA hosted its very first Come and Try Frame Football event, an inclusive game where children who use a walker/frame can enjoy the beautiful game of football. Held at North Turramurra Recreation Area, the day was supported by Dejay Medical and Etac who initiated the event and provided frames for players to use during the session.

The event was run by XLR8 Player Development coaches Kristi and Kate, who put the players through several different fun activities, testing their ball control and introducing them to football. Parents and supporters were also welcome to test their skills in a frame with many amazed by the skills the players possessed. The day was concluded with a small sided game which ended with a penalty shoot-out. All attendees were welcomed into the Tigers Family and provided with their club jersey for the future events.

Speaking to the parents of the players, the importance and significance of providing a platform to play organised football such as last weekend’s event cannot be underestimated. To have the same experience to that of their family and friends provides that sense of purpose, belonging and identity which can often go overlooked. As such, the NSFA are committed to continuing its support of Frame Football as we look to establish our very own Northern Tigers Frame Football Team through a monthly program to give children with physical disabilities the platform to play football on a regular basis and to provide children with that sense of identity and belonging.

The NSFA would also like to thank Ku-ring-gai councillor Martin Smith for supporting the event and for speaking to participants about the importance of community sport.

Thank you to all that made the Come and Try Day possible.
