Northern Suburbs Football Association and Manly Warringah Football Association are delighted to confirm the return of the Champions Cup.
First introduced in 2020, the Champions Cup is now an annual event in the competitions calendar, with fixtures scheduled to prepare teams for their Champion of Champions journey.
In 2020, the Champions Cup provided teams who were meant to represent each association at Champions of Champions an opportunity for silverware in light of the Champion of Champions cancellation. The 2021 edition was unable to take place due to the abandonment of the grassroots football season.
Perpetual trophies will be presented to the winning association of the male competition and to the winning association of the female competition. MWFA are the current holders of both trophies.
2022 will also see the addition of the Men’s All Age fixture for the first time, pitting the Premier League competitions against each other.
The competition will take place on Sunday, September 11th at Cromer Park, Charles Bean Oval, and Cammeray Oval. Teams that will representing the associations at Champions of Champions will be automatically entered.
Competition Format
Perpetual trophies will be presented to the winning association of the male competition and to the winning association of the female competition. Points will be awarded for each match and the trophy awarded to the association with the highest number of points achieved across all age groups (equal weighting) in the relative competition. There will be no extra time or penalties in matches and goal difference across all games will be used as a tiebreaker if points are equal.
Each perpetual trophy will be held by the winning association for 12 months.
The Champions Cup will follow the FNSW Champion of Champion regulations in order to prepare teams for their CoC campaign.
The full fixture schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
