High-flying Willoughby Dalleys FC are once again top of the league, retaining the spot they have occupied during the two pandemic impacted seasons. Unbeaten in 8 and winning 6 of these has them sitting confident at the top, with an impressive Australia Cup run also under their belt. Their ongoing form over the years has in short been no doubt due to the attraction of top players from surrounding Clubs, disciplined coaching and higher-level sides. They are the team to beat!
Northbridge FC join the defending premiers at the top end of the table, unbeaten and finding their feet again after a string of draws. The red and white look promising with a raft of new imports that add to the team’s progress over the years. The battle of Willoughby may well become the battle of the NSFA title.
Lane Cove FC have been the surprise package once again, sitting in third and had a flying start to the season. As Premier League regulars over the last few years teams have been naïve to their impact on the park, however they will want to rediscover their early form to keep on the heels of the Willoughby clubs above.
Berowra FC are a chance of being big competitors at the top end of the league, having only lost one match and still one game behind some of those above. The Maroon outfit have found recent form and take on the leaders this weekend in what will be an important showdown for the league title in 2022.
Despite a midseason coaching change West Pymble FC are secure in fifth place, with a decent spread of results and games in hand. The team stabilized well after the departure of well-known coach Greg Fuchs a few months back.
Knox United have improved their performances of recent years, sitting in a comfortable sixth place and finding their feet in the competitive league after the first few rounds. We expect to see the sharing of points as the season goes on and Knox to build on this stability ahead of 2023.
Lindfield FC have been the disappointment of the league in 2022, having played 9 and managing only three wins. The team and club’s expectations would have been higher, however this is football. Under new leadership the Navy Blue will be hoping to rekindle form to march back up to a top half finish.
Joining Lindfield towards the bottom are Kissing Point FC who have surprisingly had a disappointing time which has resulted in a change of leadership midseason with their coach departing. With only one win in eight, Kisso will be hoping to rediscover some type of form over the coming weeks, despite safety looking secure.
North Sydney United and Old Barker sit at the base of the league each with one point. Both have had disappointing and frustrating seasons on all accounts with player availability and close results slipping away a regular feature. We are looking forward to seeing a resurgence in the second half of the year to claim some valuable points and rely on Club championships to save themselves from relegation.
The Men’s Premier League Club Championship has Northbridge sitting top of the pile, with promising form from both squads proving important.
With many matches to go, both teams within squads will be needing points to challenge for top spot and save themselves from the battle of the bottom.
