Asquith FC held a successful Female Football Week Super Sunday on 30 April at Asquith Oval, celebrating female players, volunteers, and supporters in their club. Despite the weather being touch and go for a while, all six games were played as planned and enjoyed by all!
The day began with the Girls Under 16 and Girls Under 10 teams playing against West Pymble FC and Gordon FC, respectively. This was followed by the Girls Under 13 team playing against Hornsby Heights FC, and the Women’s Over35s playing against North Turramurra FC.
The highlight of the day was the Women’s All Age Division 3 team, who were honoured with a Guard of Honour as they ran onto the field for their match against Lane Cove FC. The Asquith BBQ was also in full swing, cooking up yummy breakfast, brunch, and lunch snacks for everyone in attendance.
Although unfortunately this year the inflatable soccer dartboard was not used due to concerns about the moisture on the ground and the power, the day was still a success. Briony Olmedo, the Female Football Coordinator at Asquith FC, handed out some Sam Kerr Kicking Goals books to the Girls Under 10 team, who were all very excited to start reading.
The event was well-attended, with players, volunteers, and supporters of all ages coming down to cheer on the Blue and White. Asquith FC thanked everyone who made the day possible and encouraged all members to join them at some stage during the day to celebrate female players, volunteers, and supporters in their club.
