Round 5 of the Women’s Premier League saw some big results as the competition standings have started to take shape. Hornsby Heights made it consecutive wins, whilst North Sydney, UTS, Northbridge and Lindfield stay in touch with the top after important victories.

North Sydney United 6 – 0 Normanhurst Eagles FC
North Sydney United came into this one looking to bounce back from their Round 4 defeat against West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook, whilst Normanhurst Eagles were still looking for their first three points of the season.
North Sydney United showed their class early on, with Audrey Suckling getting two early goals. Zoe Seeley added a third before Suckling completed her hattrick before half time. They continued in the second half as Emily Edwards got a goal and Suckling got her fourth, completing a 6-0 victory. Congratulations to Audrey Suckling, who is our Player of the Round.

Hornsby Heights FC 4 – 0 Macquarie Dragons FC
Hornsby Heights and Macquarie Dragons came into this clash both looking to get their second win of the season to get it up and running.
Heights brought in their form from last week’s win against Putney Rangers, as Mia Hing and Kiara Grandinetti made it 2-0 before halftime. They continued into the second half, where Simona Vitale added a third and Mia Hing made it a brace. The 4-0 win makes it two wins on the bounce for heights, who will look to continue with this form.
Epping FC 0 – 2 UTS FC
UTS came into this one looking for a response after a disappointing loss to Northbridge FC in the last round. Epping wanted to turn their form around after their last win coming back in round one.
UTS took control early, with Stefanie Aisbett getting a quick-fire brace in the first half. UTS showed their experience, seeing out the game as 2-0 winners after a goalless second half.
West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC 5 – 0 Northern Galaxy
WPHC came into this one looking for a win to keep them towards the top of the ladder, whilst Northern Galaxy were looking to build on their win last round against Normanhurst Eagles.
WPHC were fired up from the start, with Natasha Hartley, Isabella Fisher and Sarah De Sousa making it 3-0 before half time. They showed their intention with an early goal after halftime from Elizabeth West to make it 4-0, with Veronica Wolf rounding off a 5 star performance with a fifth goal in the 75th minute.
Lindfield FC 10 – 0 Putney Rangers FC
Lindfield looked to respond in this match after narrowly losing in the Sapphire cup against NPL side Illawarra Stingrays in midweek. Putney Rangers were looking to get their first win of the season.
Lindfield showed their quality, with hattricks from Lilly Redding and Bronte Finegan as well as doubles from Sophia Hamilton and Ciara O’Sullivan completing a comprehensive 10-0 victory.
Northbridge FC 3 – 2 Flying Bats FC
The final clash of the round was set to be a great match, with Northbridge coming off two wins in a row and the Flying Bats coming off three wins in a row.
Both teams played well in the first half, with Jade Day putting the Flying Bats ahead in the 9th minute before Jenna Kim responded for Northbridge and equalized before half time. Northbridge showed their quality in the second half, with Valerie Change and Natasha Reiss making it 3-1. Despite a goal from Riley Dennis in the 75th minute, Northbridge were able to hold on to the win, keeping the division very close at the top after five rounds.
