I hope you have enjoyed being back on the park, catching up with team mates and feeling reenergised for our football season.
We are in early stages of the ‘Return to Play’ framework, however this week we received promising news that Junior competition is permitted to return on the first weekend of July. At this point, the NSW Government have not released a further statement regarding Senior football, however we continue to work with Football NSW and the NSW Office of Sport to set a return date for matches.
Due to the changing nature of restrictions and the new announcements this week, the NSFA Competitions department will release a statement as to the Competition formats and structures for Junior and Senior competitions on Thursday 11th June.
In order to resume our season, there are many factors that need to be taken in to account and considered. Our statement next week will provide full details as to the season composition, with further commitment from councils to utilise fields beyond the regular winter season.
In the meantime, the focus is on training.
I would like to commend how our community has acted over the past two weeks. NSFA, Football NSW and the NSW Government have placed strict guidelines on community football to ensure a safe environment is achieved. The workload involved and the implementation has been undertaken by thousands of volunteers across NSFA – I thank you.
To players and parents, please be aware that Club volunteers want you on the park playing football however must adhere to the conditions of play we have set. Next time you see a club volunteer please thank them, as without them NSFA would simply not function.
Enjoy the next few weeks as you get back out on the field and wipe away the isolation cobwebs that I am sure still linger. I am grateful to be back on the park with a promising outlook for the 2020 winter season.
Yours in football,
Ed Ferguson CEO – NSFA
