North West Sydney Football and Northern Suburbs Football are proud to announce the establishment of Premier League Women and Super League Women football competitions, set to commence in the 2026 season.
The new competitions will be jointly administered by both associations and will each feature 14 teams, with clubs drawn from North West Sydney Football and Northern Suburbs Football. This initiative represents a significant step forward for women’s football in the region, providing an exciting new level of competition and further strengthening the female football pathway.
The introduction of Premier League Women and Super League Women competitions establishes parity with the existing male competitions, ensuring female players have access to the same high-performance league structures and opportunities to compete at the highest local level.
North West Sydney Football CEO Phil Brown said the announcement marks a proud moment for the association and the broader football community.
“We are extremely proud to be establishing the Premier League Women and Super League Women competitions alongside Northern Suburbs Football,” Mr Brown said.
“These leagues represent an exciting new chapter for women’s football, offering a higher standard of competition and pathway for aspiring clubs and their players.
I would like to sincerely thank our clubs for supporting the concept and for their commitment to growing the women’s game. I also thank Northern Suburbs Football for their strong contribution and collaboration in bringing these competitions to life.
We are very much looking forward to some outstanding football in 2026.”
Northern Suburbs Football Association CEO David Taylor said the partnership was an important step forward for women’s football within the Association.
“This partnership reflects a clear and deliberate commitment to the continued development and growth of women’s football within NSFA. Our female players continue to show enormous passion and dedication, and it’s critical that we keep investing in structures that support their development. Partnering with North West Sydney Football allows us to strengthen both Associations’ competitions, raise standards week to week, and build strong foundations for the future of the female game. This is about long term development, growing the sport the right way, and making sure women’s football continues to thrive.”
Both associations are committed to working closely with clubs over the coming months to finalise competition structures and ensure a successful launch.
The Premier League Women and Super League Women competitions will further enhance opportunities for players, clubs, and officials, reinforcing a shared vision for the continued growth and success of women’s football.
