Youth engage in NSFA Beach and Bush Clean-up Weekend.
On July 30th various youth from across the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA) engaged in “Bush and Beach’ clean-ups as part of the Sustainable Sports Program. Parks, playing fields and beaches were cleaned-up thanks to the support of youth from NSFA clubs including Gordon FC, Lane Cove FC, Northbridge FC and North Sydney United FC and with leadership from Youth Ambassadors, their families and parents.
The goal of the weekend events was to reduce plastics, collect recycled products and to assist biodiversity to thrive in a plastic free environment. Thanks to Clean-up Australia for assisting with the bags and gloves. Some unusual items found included: boat ropes, angler hooks, a skate ramp washed up on a beach and loads of microplastic pieces in the bush, on playing fields and along the water’s edge.
Over 12 bags of rubbish were removed from the environment, great work all!
Thanks to all the youth team leaders for their support.!
