2019 Development Partners
Hornsby RSL FC recognised the need to leverage coaching experience and skills from the NSFA. This has for a number years (7 years +) meant that volunteer parents at the club have had coaching support from the NSFA. As a club heavily reliant on volunteer parents the involvement of the NSFA coaches smooths the path for parents to get involved and gain confidence in their coaching abilities.
From a coaching point of view there have been many benefits, examples of these include:
1. NSFA coaches are positive role model coaches for both inexperienced coaches and young players.
2. Active participation of the NSFA coaches in the club's implementation of the FFA National Curriculum.
3. Coaches play an active role in mentoring volunteer coaches, their support and guidance to parent coaches is invaluable.
4. NSFA are active partners in delivery of a Skills Acquisition term-based football school.
5. Opportunities created for talented HRSLFC players to progress to the Northern Tigers representative program.
6. Technical Director guidance and player trial/grading support leading to the successful formation of a U12 development team that went on to win the 2016 FNSW State Cup.
To date our experience with the NSFA coaches has been rewarding and their involvement has helped deliver the benefits detailed above and to steer HRSLFC towards being a progressive club.
XLR8 coaches can assist your club in delivering team grading days for any age or skill level required. Coaches will work to grade each player based on several aspects of skill and performance while also utilising our new mobile grading app to reduce the administrative burden often placed on volunteers.
Individual player development sessions
Individuals register to attend weekly skill training sessions delivered by the XLR8 coaching team. Players are grouped accordingly to age and/or their football development stage. This program is targeted for players 5 – 13 years old with a player to coach ratio of 1:12.
Over the last couple of years – our committee (and Current Coaching Director) were extremely frustrated with our coaching partners.
The training content and coaching methods were not as effective or engaging as we wanted for our players. Being familiar with NSFA football school & national curriculum program it was an easy decision to approach the NSFA to run a 2017 training program for BRFC.
From the first training session we have been blown away with the level of professionalism & training content. Coaches Danilo & Raph have delivered up and beyond of what we had ever expected. All the kids enjoy coming to training & have bonded with coaches & importantly also bonded as teams.
BRFC would recommend any clubs thinking of changing current training programs to consider NSFA. We are looking forward to working with the NSFA in the 2018 season & many seasons to come.
An XLR8 coach will deliver weekly training sessions for a squad of players during the winter football season. This program is aimed at teams Under 13 + during the winter football season, including the option of one night, two nights or two nights and weekend morning coverage.
XLR8 offers an ‘in-house’ club goalkeeper-coaching program during the winter season. Programs can range in length from 4 weeks – 20 weeks, and are limited to group sizes of no larger than six players of similar age for 45-60min sessions.
Collaborative Coaching Model
The XLR8 Collaborative coaching model involves an XLR8 coach mentor to be present during weekly club training sessions to assist, mentor and provide guidance and support to club coaches. This model focusses on the development of club coaches by providing them an easy to follow season training plan, as well as weekly ‘on-the-job’ support during the season.
