The NSFA Men’s Select continue to search for a first win over their MWFA counterparts after a 3-0 defeat at Cromer Park on Wednesday night.
It was a promising start from the NSFA Select, with West Pymble wide men Rob Tall and James Laming creating problems for the opposition defence.
However, it was home side who would strike first, taking the lead after 23 minutes through a header from Aaron Peters.
NSFA Select coach Tom Sweeney introduced Luke Tyson (Northbridge) off the bench and the renewed attacking pressure yielded a penalty as Sam Young (Willoughby Dalleys) was pulled back inside the box.
Young stepped up to take the spot-kick, but MWFA goalkeeper Matt Smith telegraphed the shot and dived well to his right to make the save and keep his side ahead at half time.
Both sides traded chances in the early stages of the second half, but it was MWFA who would find the net again in the 63rd minute as George Harle’s free-kick found a way past Anthony Zecchinati in goal.
The NSFA Select would continue to push for a way back into the contest as the half wore on, with Luke Tyson forcing a sharp save from Daniel Trueman and James Laming’s follow-up grazing the crossbar.
With numbers high up the field though, there was space at the back in transition and the MWFA Select capitalised, Tyson Masters finishing off a swift counter-attack in the final minutes to seal the result.
