What’s Best for Her

Female football in NSFA is driven by our What’s Best For Her strategy, which aims to put the experience and enjoyment of our members at the heart of everything we do in our association. The strategy is based on five key pillars: players, coaches, inclusive and empowering culture, pathways, and marketing and communications.

Players

At NSFA we have developed a focus on player retention through an inclusive and empowering environment, designed to keep players playing across all age groups.

We have implemented a number of key initiatives in this area as we look to increase our female player representation to 40% overall by 2026 (currently 26%). These include our G6/G7 hubs, Sapphires, Diamond League, Women’s Skill Training and our girls schools cups Skellern Cup and Thea Slatyer Cup.

Coaches

Coaches play a crucial role in the football experience. NSFA has a long-standing commitment to developing our local coaches and providing opportunities for female coaches to excel. We are aiming to increase our female coach representation to 25% overall by 2026 (currently 14%) and provide future role models for our players.

We also recognize that all coaches involved in the female game need support and information tailored to the female game, which we provide by running specific workshops.

Clubs

Our NSFA Female Football Working Group (FFWG) consists of 20 clubs who have dedicated Female Football Coordinators collaborating to deliver the What’s Best For Her strategy.

Pathways

We are committed to establishing suitable development pathways for our players in order to provide the optimal member experience.

Northern Tigers FC is the official representative pathway for players and coaches in the NSFA region. The club enters female teams in Football NSW competitions from Under 10s through to First Grade and plays home matches at North Turramurra Recreation Area (NTRA).
